217. Detention on remand after conviction—Section 5 (1) (a) of the Constitution permits the legislator to provide, as in section 94 (3) and (4) of the
District and Intermediate Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act, that a person
convicted of an offence may lawfully be remanded in custody pending the
determination of his appeal. Victor v State (2000).
