15. Deemed income arising from expenditure or loss discharged
(1) Where the amount of any expenditure or loss incurred by a person
has been taken into account in calculating his net income for an income year,
and the liability of the person in respect of that amount is subsequently discharged in whole or in part, the amount so discharged shall be deemed to be
income derived in the year in which the amount is discharged.
(2) For the purpose of this section, a liability in respect of expenditure or
loss shall be deemed to have been discharged to the extent to which the
person has been discharged from that liability without adequate consideration in money or money’s worth.
