7. Termination of employment in interest of service (1) Where the service of an officer who was appointed before 1 January 2013 is terminated on the ground that, having regard to the conditions of the public service, the usefulness of the officer to the service and all the other circumstances of the case, such termination is desirable in the interest of the service, and a pension, gratuity or other allowance cannot otherwise be granted to him, the Minister may, if he thinks fit, grant such pension, gratuity or other allowance as he thinks just and proper, not exceeding the amount for which the officer would be eligible if he retired from the public service in the circumstances described in section 6 (1) (f). (2) Where the service of an officer who is appointed on or after 1 January 2013 is terminated on the ground set out in subsection (1), the benefits payable to the officer shall be computed in such manner as may be prescribed.
