284. Failure of claimant for registration under one qualification – Whether bar to registration under other qualification—A claimant for registration, having failed in the literacy test in one of the languages mentioned in the Schedule to the Legislative Council Order-in-Council, 1947, later submitted himself to a further test in another of the scheduled languages, which he passed. The Registration Officer expunged his name from the list of claimants. HELD a claimant who fails to have his name registered as an elector under one qualification can subsequently claim registration for the same district under some other qualification, provided he applies within the statutory period.
