83. Compounding of offences (1) The Council may, with the consent of the Director of Public Prosecutions, compound any offence committed by a person where the person agrees, in writing, to pay such (cid:68)(cid:80)(cid:82)(cid:88)(cid:81)(cid:87)(cid:3)(cid:81)(cid:82)(cid:87)(cid:3)(cid:72)(cid:91)(cid:70)(cid:72)(cid:72)(cid:71)(cid:76)(cid:81)(cid:74)(cid:3)(cid:87)(cid:75)(cid:72)(cid:3)(cid:80)(cid:68)(cid:91)(cid:76)(cid:80)(cid:88)(cid:80)(cid:3)(cid:83)(cid:72)(cid:81)(cid:68)(cid:79)(cid:87)(cid:92)(cid:3)(cid:86)(cid:83)(cid:72)(cid:70)(cid:76)(cid:191)(cid:72)(cid:71)(cid:3)(cid:73)(cid:82)(cid:85)(cid:3)(cid:87)(cid:75)(cid:72)(cid:3) offence as may be acceptable to the Council. (2) An agreement under subsection (1) shall be in writing and signed on behalf of the Council and by the person agreeing to the compounding. (3) Every agreement to compound an offence (cid:86)(cid:75)(cid:68)(cid:79)(cid:79)(cid:3)(cid:69)(cid:72)(cid:3)(cid:191)(cid:81)(cid:68)(cid:79)(cid:3)(cid:68)(cid:81)(cid:71)(cid:3)(cid:70)(cid:82)(cid:81)(cid:70)(cid:79)usive and on payment of the agreed 292 Acts 2021 amount, no further action shall be taken, with respect to the offence compounded, against the person who agreed to the compounding. (4) Where the Director of Public Prosecutions does not give his consent to compound an offence or a person does not agree to compound an offence, the Council may, with the consent of the Director of Public Prosecutions, refer the case to the Police for legal proceedings. (5) The Council may cause to be published, in such form and manner as it may determine, a public notice setting out the particulars of the amount agreed upon under subsection (1).
