How juris answers
Every answer follows the same steps: find Mauritian sources, answer only from them, then check each citation and each quotation before you see it. juris is not legal advice and never predicts an outcome.
1. It reads your question
You write in English, French or Kreol Morisien, in your own words. juris works out which language you used and what the question is about. A question that is clearly not about Mauritian law is declined, and juris says so instead of guessing.
2. It searches Mauritian sources
juris searches its own collection of Mauritian legislation, judgments, tribunal decisions and regulator documents. It looks for the words you used and for passages that mean the same thing in other words, then ranks what it found by how closely each passage bears on the question.
Tax rulings and guidance from the revenue authority are consulted only for tax questions, and are always labelled as not being law.
3. It answers from what it found
The answer is written from the passages retrieved, and each claim points to the passage it rests on. If the sources do not support a claim, juris does not make it. If the sources do not answer the question, juris says that, shows the nearest sources it has, and suggests how to ask again.
4. It checks every citation
Before the answer reaches you, each citation is checked against the collection. A citation juris cannot match to a document it holds is marked as unverified, with a warning sign, and is never hidden.
Quotations are held to a stricter test. Quoted words must appear exactly in the passage juris holds. There is no approximate matching, because a loose match would let "shall not" pass for "shall".
5. It shows the status of the law
Each legislative source carries a status. The consolidated Acts are shown as they were consolidated, and juris flags later amending Acts and pending Bills where it holds them. Finding no amendment is not proof that a provision is current, and juris does not present it as proof.
What it will never do
juris never predicts whether a case will succeed and never gives a probability. That rule applies to every answer on every surface. It does not write a family law strategy. It does not replace a law practitioner.
Questions people ask
Does juris make up citations?
Every citation is checked against the documents juris holds before you see the answer. One that cannot be matched is marked unverified.
Where do the answers come from?
From Mauritian legislation, judgments, tribunal decisions and regulator documents that juris holds and can show you.
What happens when juris does not know?
It says so, shows the closest sources it has, and suggests other ways to ask.
Is the law juris shows up to date?
Each source carries a status and a date. juris flags amendments it holds, and it does not confirm that a text is the current law.
