What juris holds, and what it does not
juris answers only from documents it holds and can show you. This page lists the kinds of source, where each comes from, and the gaps. The figures are read from the live index when the page is built. juris is not legal advice.
Judgments
The judgments the Judiciary of Mauritius publishes, from the district courts to the Supreme Court, with decisions of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council on appeals from Mauritius. A small number of older reports are no longer served by the Judiciary's site and are listed as missing.
Acts, Codes and the Constitution
The revised laws published by the Attorney General's Office. These are consolidations made at a fixed date. juris dates them, and flags later amending Acts and pending Bills where it holds them. A Bill is a proposal, and juris does not treat it as law.
Regulations and other subsidiary legislation
Subsidiary legislation published by the Judiciary for recent years only. juris does not hold a complete set of older regulations and does not present the recent ones as a full record.
Tribunals and regulators
Decisions of tribunals and documents from regulators, some of them read from scanned pages. Rulings and guidance from the revenue authority are held for tax questions and are labelled as not being law.
What is not held
juris does not hold every law of Mauritius. It does not hold unpublished judgments, court files, or documents behind a paywall or a login it has no right to use. Where a source is missing, an answer that depends on it will say that support was not found.
Silence is not confirmation. If juris shows no amendment to a provision, that means it holds no record of one. It does not mean the provision is unchanged.
