2. Interpretation In this Act— “Authority“ means the Beach Authority established under section 3; “Board“ means the Board referred to in section 7; “Chairperson“ means the Chairperson of the Board appointed under section 7; “General Manager“ means the person appointed under section 10; “member“ means a member of the Board and includes the Chairperson; B5 – 1 [Issue 9] Beach Authority Act “Minister“ means the Minister to whom responsibility for the subject of local government is assigned; “public beach“— (a) means a space along the coast which, by notice published in the Gazette, has been declared to be a public beach by the Minister to whom responsibility for the subject of lands is assigned; and (b) includes the space between the low-water mark and the highwater mark, and the surrounding waters up to a distance of 100 metres.
