Section 33: Offences

33. Offences (1) Any person who contravenes this Act shall commit an offence. (2) Any person who commits an offence under this Act, for which no specific penalty is provided, shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 100,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years. (3) The Court may, in addition to any penalty, order the pulling down or removal of any building at the expense of the offender where the offender B13A – 17 [Issue 5] Building Control Act has not complied, within such reasonable period fixed by a local authority, with the notice served upon him to pull down any building erected or made in contravention of this Act.
