38. Registration of death
(1) (a) A person who has been—
(i) present at the death;
(ii) in attendance during the last illness; or
(b) the occupier of the house or premises where the death took
place,
shall, within 24 hours of the death, attend personally at the office of the district where the death took place or where the deceased last resided to declare such death and produce a medical certificate of the cause of death.
(2) He shall—
(a) furnish to the officer such particulars as the officer may require;

(b) sign the relevant entry in the appropriate register in presence of
the officer.
