Section 8B: Setting up of Central Population Database

8B. Setting up of Central Population Database (1) There is established a Central Population Database. (2) The Registrar of Civil Status shall be the repository of the CPD and shall be responsible for the compilation of the following particulars with respect to every person whose birth has been registered in Mauritius or who becomes a citizen of Mauritius— (a) personal particulars— (i) NIC number; (ii) surname; (iii) names; (iv) latest notified address; (v) sex; (vi) date of birth; (vii) date of registration or naturalisation as citizen; (viii) surname after marriage; (ix) marital status; (x) date of issue of the identity card under the National Identity Card Act; (xi) date of marriage; (xii) NIC number of spouse; (xiii) surname of spouse; (xiv) names of spouse; (xv) date of divorce; (xvi) date of death; (xvii) date of loss or renunciation of citizenship; (xviii) photograph; (xix) signature; [Issue 6] C24 – 8 Revised Laws of Mauritius (b) particulars of father— (xx) NIC number of father; (xxi) surname of father; (xxii) names of father; (xxiii) nationality of father; (c) particulars of mother— (xxiv) NIC number of mother; (xxv) surname of mother; (xxvi) maiden surname of mother; (xxvii) names of mother; (xxviii) nationality of mother; and (d) such other particulars as may be prescribed. (3) Where there is any change in the particulars compiled under subsection (2), the person, or in the case of a minor or mentally handicapped person, his responsible party, shall within 28 days notify the change to the Registrar of Civil Status.
