38. Expulsion of members
(1) Where a member has—
(a) committed or attempted to commit an act detrimental to the
interest of the society; or
(b) failed to comply with any obligation specified in section 36,
he may be expelled by a decision of the general meeting.
(2) Where the general meeting fails to take a decision to expel the
member, the Registrar may give directives to the Board to do so.
(3) The rules of a society shall prescribe the procedure for the expulsion
of a member and shall include provision for—
(a) the suspension of the member;
(b) the notification, in writing, specifying the reasons of the
expulsion; and
(c) the member’s right to defend himself before any special
committee appointed for the purpose or before the general
meeting prior to the decision.
