13. Offences and penalties (1) Any person who contravenes section 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 12A shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable— (a) where the offence involves the intentional causing of death of another human being, to penal servitude for a term not exceeding 60 years; (b) in any other case, to a fine not exceeding 100,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 years. (2) Any corporate body which contravenes section 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 12A shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 2,000,000 rupees. (3) Any person who— (a) without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with a notice under section 12; or (b) knowingly or recklessly provides false information in relation to such notice, shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 50,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years. (4) The Court before which a person is convicted of an offence under this Act shall, in addition to any penalty imposed in respect of that offence, order that any weapon, vehicle, uniform, equipment or other property or object in respect of which the offence was committed or which was used for, in or in connection with the commission of offence, be forfeited to the State. (5) Notwithstanding any other enactment, the Intermediate Court shall have jurisdiction to try any offence under this Act. [S. 13 amended by s. 15 (b) of Act 11 of 2018 w.e.f. 9 August 2018.]
