Section 199: Rules Committee

199. Rules Committee (1) There shall, for the purposes of section 198, be set up a Rules Committee which shall consist of— (a) a Judge appointed by the Chief Justice, who shall be the Chairperson; (b) the Master or his representative; (c) a representative of the Bar Council; (d) a representative of the Mauritius Law Society; (e) a representative of the Attorney-General’s Office; (f) 2 other law practitioners appointed by the Chief Justice. (2) The functions of the Rules Committee shall be to advise and make recommendations to the Chief Justice in respect of the rules to be made under section 198. (3) For the purpose of its functions, the Rules Committee may undertake such review as it thinks fit and give its advice or make its recommendations, on its own initiative, or as requested by the Chief Justice. (4) The Rules Committee shall regulate its meetings and proceedings in such manner as it thinks fit. (5) The Chairperson and members of the Rules Committee shall be paid such allowances as may be determined by the Chief Justice. [S. 199 added by Act 15 of 2000.]
