87. Accused being dumb or mute
(1) Where a person who is arraigned or charged on an information for a
crime or misdemeanour—
(a) is mute by the visitation of God;
(b) stands mute of malice; or
(c) will not answer directly to the information,
the Court may, if it thinks fit, order the registrar to enter a plea of not guilty
on behalf of that person.
(2) The plea entered under subsection (1) shall have the same force and
effect as if that person had actually pleaded not guilty.
