127. Power to examine all goods
(1) Any officer may, subject to the control of Customs, at the risk of the
owner, open any package and examine, weigh, mark and seal any goods.
(1A) Any examination under subsection (1) may include the physical or
chemical testing of, drilling into, or dismantling of, the goods and may be
facilitated by any means, including the use of chemical substances, detector
dogs, x-ray scanning or other imaging equipment, or other mechanical,
electrical or electronic device.
(2) The expenses of the examination, including the cost of removal to
and from the place of examination, shall be borne by the owner.
