6. Offences
(1) Every person who—
(a) fails to comply with, or makes a false declaration under, section 3
or 4;
(b) contravenes any regulations made under this Act,
shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not
exceeding 50,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2
years.
(2) No prosecution for an offence under this Act shall be commenced
except with the express consent of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
(3) Notwithstanding—
(a) section 114 of the Courts Act; and
(b) section 72 of the District and Intermediate Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act,
a Magistrate shall have jurisdiction to try any offence under this Act and may
impose any penalty provided by this Act.
