83. Sentence on person already convicted
(1) Where a Magistrate, on conviction of a party charged, awards against
him a sentence of imprisonment or of penal servitude, and such person has
been previously sentenced to undergo imprisonment or penal servitude for
another offence, the Magistrate may order that the term of imprisonment or
of penal servitude for the subsequent offence shall commence at the expiration of the imprisonment or penal servitude (including imprisonment in default of payment of fine and costs) to which such person has been previously
adjudged.
(2) Any warrant of commitment for imprisonment in lieu of fine and costs
shall, unless the Magistrate otherwise orders, only take effect from the expiration of the sentence of imprisonment or penal servitude or imprisonment in
default of payment of fines or costs which the convicted person may be then
undergoing.
