Section 24: Regulations

24. Regulations (1) The Minister may make such regulations as he thinks fit for the purposes of this Act. (2) Regulations made under subsection (1) may— (a) provide for the levying of fees and charges; (b) lay down requirements for laboratory development of genetically modified organisms; (c) set out standards to which facilities for activities involving genetically modified organisms should conform; (d) make provision for quarantine, transit, marketing, sale, transport, handling and packaging of genetically modified organisms; [Issue 1] G7 – 12 Revised Laws of Mauritius (e) provide for liabilities of GMO permit holders in respect of prejudice caused by their activities to other persons; (f) amend the Schedules. (3) Regulations made under this Act may provide that any person who contravenes them shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 50,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years. 25. — FIRST SCHEDULE [Section 7 (2)] APPLICATION FOR GMO PERMIT PART I – GENERAL INFORMATION
