8. Application for registration
(1) An application for the registration of a geographical indication shall be
filed with the Controller.

(2) Any person carrying on an activity as a producer in the geographical
area specified in the application, with respect to the product specified in the
application, shall have the right to file an application for registration.
(3) Where an applicant’s ordinary residence or principal place of business
is outside Mauritius, he shall be represented by a law practitioner resident
and practising in Mauritius.
