17. Powers of Authority
(1) The Authority may in addition to the powers it has under section 37
of the Interpretation and General Clauses Act—
(a) commission expert evaluations, conduct studies and collect data
related to the information and communication industry;
(b) authorise any person to conduct such technical tests or evaluations relating to information and communication services, including telecommunication, as it thinks fit.
(2) For the purpose of subsection (1), the Authority may require a public
operator who holds a licence granted under this Act to provide information
on the use, area of coverage and means of access to his service.
(3) The Authority shall have the power to make such determinations,
issue such directives and guidelines, and do such acts and things, as are
incidental or conducive to the attainment of its objects and the discharge of
its functions.
