45. Witness statements
(1) Notwithstanding any other enactment, a witness statement which
complies with the International Arbitration Rules shall be admissible in evidence in proceedings in Court under this Act or under the Convention on the
Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards Act.
(2) Any person who, for the purposes of this Act or the International
Arbitration Rules, knowingly makes a witness statement which is false in any
material respect shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to
a fine not exceeding 10,000 rupees and to penal servitude for a term not
exceeding 3 years.
