Section 33: Ministerial responsibility

33. Ministerial responsibility (1) Where a Minister is assigned responsibility for a matter and thereafter another Minister is assigned responsibility for the same matter, any reference in an enactment or document to the former Minister shall be construed as a reference to the latter. (2) Any document may be signed on behalf of Government— (a) by the Prime Minister; (b) by any Minister authorised in that behalf by the Prime Minister; (c) by the Minister to whom responsibility for the subject to which the document relates is assigned; (d) by any public officer authorised by the Prime Minister or by the Minister to whom responsibility for the subject to which the document relates is assigned.
