9A. Senior barristers and attorneys
(1) The President of the Republic may, subject to subsection (2) and on
the recommendation of the Chief Justice, by Letters Patent, appoint—
(a) a barrister to be Senior Counsel for the Republic of Mauritius
(SC); and
(b) an attorney to be Senior Attorney for the Republic of Mauritius
(SA).
(2) No barrister or attorney shall be appointed pursuant to subsection (1)
unless he is, and has been, a barrister or an attorney of not less than 15 years’
standing.
