4. Functions of Board
(1) The Board shall –
(a) promote standards of good practice and efficacy
of mental health care;
(b) protect patients’ rights and promote the physical
and mental health of patients;
(c) promote measures for appropriate care of mental
health patients;
(d) make recommendations to the Ministry regarding –
(i) guidelines for the planning and
management of mental health care;
(ii) measures for the sound financial
management of mental health care;
(iii) measures on continuing professional
development and training of medical,
nursing and paramedical staff; and
(e) inspect every centre at an interval of not less
than 6 months and may interview any person in
the centre in the course of such inspection.
(2) The Board shall furnish a yearly report of its activities
to the Ministry and such other information, in respect of its activities,
as the Ministry may require.
