221. Forfeiture of ships
(1) A ship shall be liable to forfeiture where—
(a) its nationality or port of registration is being concealed;
(b) it is a foreign ship and is being used and being passed off as a
Mauritius ship;
(c) it is deemed to be an unsafe ship; or
(d) it is carrying dangerous goods.
(2) Where a ship is liable to forfeiture under subsection (1), the Commissioner of Police or an inspector designated by the Minister for that purpose
may seize and detain the ship for adjudication by the Supreme Court.
(3) Where a ship is subject to adjudication under subsection (2), the
Supreme Court may—
(a) adjudge the ship and its equipment to be forfeited to the State;
and
(b) make such order for costs as it thinks fit.
