23. Name of ship
(1) A ship shall not be described by a name other than that under which
it is registered.
(2) A change shall not be made in the name of a ship without the written
permission of the Registrar.
(3) A request for permission under subsection (2) shall be made by application in writing and, if the request is reasonable, the Registrar may grant
permission and require notice of the change to be published in such manner
as he may specify.
(4) Where permission is granted under subsection (3), the name of the
ship shall be altered in the Register, in the ship’s certificate of registration
and on its bows and stern.
