55. Termination of registration of bareboat charter ship (1) The Registrar may, in addition to the reasons specified in section 40 (1), terminate the registration of a bareboat charter ship where— (a) it ceases to be operated under a bareboat charter; (b) the transfer by the charterer of his rights and obligations causes the registration of the ship to cease; (c) the registration of the ship in the foreign country is closed or annulled; or (d) the authorisation referred to in paragraph 51 (1) (d) is revoked or withdrawn. (2) Where the Registrar intends to terminate the registration of a bareboat charter ship, he shall serve a notice to that effect on the charterer stating the grounds for the termination. (3) The Registrar shall give an opportunity to the charterer to show cause within such period as may be specified in the notice referred to in subsection (2) as to why the registration should not be terminated.
