26. Taking promissory note with amount left blank (1) A moneylender who takes, as security for any loan, a promissory note or other contract for the repayment of money lent in which the principal is to the knowledge of the lender not truly stated, or is left blank, shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 10,000 rupees or, in the event of a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine not exceeding 10,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years. (2) A promissory note or other contract in respect of which an offence has been committed under this section shall, subject to section 23, be void and unenforceable.
