4. Objects of Council
(1) The objects of the Council shall be to—
(a) promote dialogue as a means of achieving consensus for social
integration to keep pace with economic development;
(b) express its opinions, and make appropriate recommendations to
Government, for the promotion of social integration and national
development.
(2) The Council shall, in furtherance of its objects—
(a) act as an independent consultative body;
(b) strive to achieve consensus in all its deliberations;
(c) adopt a philosophy and approach, as well as a code of ethics, to
earn the trust and respect of the citizens of the Republic of
Mauritius;
(d) have regular meetings and consultations with the President, the
Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.
