17. Offences
(1) Any person who unlawfully—
(a) alters, damages, destroys, defaces, digs up, moves, changes,
covers, conceals or in any other way disfigures a national heritage;
(b) removes any part of a national heritage; or
(c) otherwise contravenes this Act,
shall commit an offence.
(2) Any person who commits an offence under this Act shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 100,000 rupees and to imprisonment
for a term not exceeding 2 years.
