Section 8: Invalid’s basic pension

8. Invalid’s basic pension (1) Subject to section 10 and such terms and conditions as may be prescribed, a person shall be qualified to receive an invalid’s basic pension where— (a) he is disabled and is likely to be so disabled for a period of at least 12 months; and (b) he is under the age of 60. (2) The National Pensions Officer shall, when awarding a pension under subsection (1), specify— (a) the period which shall not be less than 12 months for which the pension is to be payable; (b) that the applicant will have to be re-examined at the end of such period as he may determine. (3) Any person who suffers from one of the injuries specified in the first column of the Sixth Schedule shall be awarded the percentage of disablement specified in the second column of that Schedule.
