23. Protected fauna (1) Any person may, except for the purpose of trade, capture for the purpose of rearing, or rear, a bird of such species as may be prescribed. (2) No person shall, except with the written authorisation of the Director— (a) take or destroy the egg or nest of any protected fauna other than a bird of such species as may be prescribed; (b) sell or buy any bird of a species specified in the Second Schedule during a closed season; (c) kill or otherwise destroy any protected fauna of such species as may be prescribed.
