35. Importation of exotic wildlife (1) Any person who wishes to import any species of wildlife shall make a written application to the Director for a permit in such form as the Director may determine. (2) No person shall import any species of wildlife— (a) where the species has been prohibited by the Minister on the advice of the Invasive Alien Species Committee; and (b) unless he has been issued with a permit by the Director. (3) The permit referred to in subsection (2) shall be issued on payment of such fee as may be prescribed and subject to such terms and conditions as the Director may determine. (4) No person shall, except with the written authorisation of the Director, introduce into Mauritius any species of wildlife, including game, or any other mammal, bird or insect which is not found in Mauritius.
