8. Chairperson of Council
(1) The Council shall elect a member who is elected under section 4 (1)
as its Chairperson.
(2) The Chairperson shall preside at every meeting of the Council and
shall have the right to vote.
(3) The Chairperson shall, in the event of an equality of votes, have a
casting vote.
(4) Where the Chairperson is absent from a meeting, the members present shall elect one of the members elected under section 4 (1) to chair the
meeting, and in case of prolonged absence, a temporary Chairperson shall be
elected.
(5) A member who intends to stand as candidate for the office of Chairperson under subsection (1) shall, not less than 3 days before the date fixed
for the election of the Chairperson, notify the Registrar by registered post of
his intention.
