17. Offences Where— (a) a lessee of Pas Géométriques cuts, destroys or removes, or causes to be cut, destroyed or removed, any tree, without being expressly authorised to cut trees in his lease; (b) a lessee authorised to cut trees, cuts, destroys or removes, or causes to be cut, destroyed or removed, any tree on any Pas Géométriques in breach of any condition of his lease; or (c) a person cuts, destroys or removes, or causes to be cut, destroyed or removed, any tree on any Pas Géométriques which is either not let by Government or let to another person without that person’s authorisation, he shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 500 rupees in addition to the value of any tree cut, destroyed or removed, and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months.
