Section 2: Interpretation

2. Interpretation In this Act— “act of corruption” has the same meaning as in the Prevention of Corruption Act; “Chairperson” means the Chairperson of the Commission; “Commission” means the National Human Rights Commission established under the Protection of Human Rights Act; “Deputy Chairperson” means the Deputy Chairperson of the Commission who is assigned to the Division; P13A – 1 [Issue 5] “Division” means the Police Complaints Division referred to in section 3; “investigator” means a person designated by the Division to act as investigator under section 10; “member”— (a) means a member of the Division; (b) unless the context otherwise requires, includes the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson; “Minister” means the Minister to whom responsibility for the subject of human rights is assigned; “money laundering offence” has the same meaning as in the Financial Intelligence and Anti-Money Laundering Act; “police officer”— (a) has the same meaning as in the Police Act; (b) does not include the Commissioner of Police; “public body” has the same meaning as in the Protection of Human Rights Act.
