74. Consequences of illegal practice
(1) A person who is guilty of an illegal practice shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 1,000 rupees, and, subject to subsection (2)
shall, in addition, be incapable, during a period of 5 years from the date of
his conviction, of being registered as an elector or of voting at an election or
of being a candidate at an election, or, if elected before his conviction, of
retaining his seat.
(2) The incapacity under subsection (1) shall not take effect until—
(a) the expiry of a period 30 days after the conviction; or
(b) the determination by the Supreme Court of an application for
relief under section 74B.
