Section 123C: Driving without due care or reasonable consideration

123C. Driving without due care or reasonable consideration (1) Any person who drives a motor vehicle on a road or other public place— (a) without due care and attention; or (b) without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road or public place, shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine of not less than 5,000 rupees nor more than 15,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months. (2) In the case of a second or subsequent conviction, the offender referred to in subsection (1) shall be liable to a fine of not less than 10,000 rupees nor more than 20,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months. (3) Section 153 of the Criminal Procedure Act shall not apply to a fine imposed under this section.
