Section 172: Power to inspect premises

172. Power to inspect premises (1) A police officer authorised by the Commissioner of Police or an officer in charge of a police station may, for the purpose of examining a motor vehicle in respect of which he has reason to believe that an offence under this Act has been committed, enter any place where he suspects the motor vehicle to be kept. (2) A police officer authorised by the Commissioner of Police or an officer in charge of a police station, in conducting an investigation in respect of an offence in connection with which a motor vehicle is suspected to be involved, may enter any place to search for and examine the vehicle. (3) Any person who obstructs an officer in the exercise of his powers and duties under this section shall commit an offence.
