23. Remuneration of members
(1) The salary, allowances and other privileges of any Commissioner and
Member, including a Chairperson who is not a returned member of the
Regional Assembly, shall, until such time as Parliament provides for same, be
fixed by the President.
(2) The Regional Assembly shall establish a contributory pension scheme
for Members.
(3) The salaries and allowances payable to the Chairperson and the
Deputy Chairperson of the Regional Assembly, the Commissioners and the
Members shall be a charge on the Rodrigues Consolidated Fund.
(4) A Commissioner or a Chairperson of the Regional Assembly shall not
engage in any trade, business, occupation or other undertaking for profit or
remuneration other than that of serving as Commissioner or Chairperson.
