18. Overpaid benefits
(1) Any person who—
(a) fails to furnish within the appropriate time any information required to be furnished to the Board; or
(b) furnishes false information,
shall commit an offence, and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 1,000 rupees.
(2) A prosecution under this section may be instituted by an officer of
the Board authorised in writing by the Chairperson, and any fine payable as a
result shall accrue to the Fund.
(3) Where, as a result of the failure to furnish information or of the furnishing of false information, the Board has paid a benefit to an associate

which it ought not to have paid, the associate shall refund to the Board the
amount which the Board ought not to have paid on such terms and conditions as the Board thinks fit.
