41. Change of ownership
(1) Every notary public shall, within one month of drawing up a deed
witnessing the change in ownership of any factory, refinery or land under
sugar cane cultivation which is registered under section 40, notify the Board
in writing of the change, and provide such particulars as the Board may request.
(2) On receipt of a notification under subsection (1), the Board shall—
(a) change the registration in respect of the factory or cane plantation from the name of the previous to that of the new owner;
and
(b) assign to the new owner, if he has at the time of registration no
other cane plantation registered, the ranking which has been or
would have been assigned to the previous owner; or
(c) where necessary, adjust the ranking assigned to the previous
and new owners.
