72. Investigating Authority (1) The Director shall be the Investigating Authority. (2) For the purposes of this Act, the Director may— (a) make use of the services of a public officer designated for that purpose by the Head of the Civil Service; or (b) subject to the approval of the Minister, where he considers it expedient to do so, retain the services of an independent professional or specialised agency from Mauritius or overseas for such specific purpose as he may require. (3) The Minister may, in relation to the exercise of the powers of the Investigating Authority under this Act, give such general directions to the Investigating Authority, not inconsistent with this Act, as he considers necessary in the public interest and the Investigating Authority shall comply with those directions.
