3. Truth and Justice Commission
(1) The President shall establish a Truth and Justice Commission whose
objects shall be to make an assessment of the consequences of slavery and
indentured labour during the colonial period up to the present.
(2) The Commission shall make recommendations to the President on
measures to be taken following its assessment and its findings with a view
to achieving social justice and national unity.

(3) The Commission shall consist of a Chairperson, a Vice-Chairperson
and 3 other members who shall be appointed by the President on such terms
and conditions as the President may determine.
(4) The members shall be persons having wide experience in the field of
history, anthropology, culture, economics or law and shall perform their
functions independently of the control or authority of any person or body and
in an impartial manner.
(5) Every member shall, prior to assuming office, take and subscribe before the President, the oath set out in the Schedule.
