3. Killing of straying swine, goats or poultry Notwithstanding any other enactment, swine, goats or poultry found straying on any private premises or cultivated land may, at the request of the owner or occupier of such premises or land, be killed by any police officer or by any person authorised in writing by the Commissioner of Police or his deputy, by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry responsible for the subject of health, by the Chief Agricultural Officer or by the Conservator of Forests under such conditions and during such period as may be laid down in such authority. 4. Owner of animal killed to be notified (1) (a) Every police officer or other person killing any animal under section 3 shall, within 6 hours, notify the owner of the animal killed, if he is known to such police officer or other person, and the owner may remove the carcase of his animal. A15 – 1 [Issue 1] Animal Destruction Act (b) Where the carcase is not removed by the owner within 6 hours from the time of the notice, the owner of the land may bury or otherwise destroy it. (2) Every police officer or other person who fails to comply with this section shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 100 rupees.
