5. Meetings of Council (1) The Council shall meet— (a) at least once every month; and (b) whenever a request for a meeting is made by the Chairperson or by not less than 5 members. (2) Where the Chairperson is absent from any meeting, the members present shall elect from amongst themselves a member to preside at the meeting. (3) At a meeting of the Council, 6 members shall constitute a quorum, of whom one shall be a medical practitioner. (4) A decision of the Council shall be by a simple majority of the members present and voting and, in the event of an equality of votes, the Chairperson shall have a casting vote. (5) Subject to this Act, the Council may conduct its meetings and proceedings in such manner as it thinks fit.
