50. Government nominees as directors
(1) Where the Government has—
(a) guaranteed the repayment of debentures issued by, or loans,
advances or overdrafts made to, a society; or
(b) given financial assistance in any other form to a society,
the Minister may, in addition to the elected directors, appoint not more than
5 persons having wide experience in the field of co-operatives to sit on the
Board as directors.
(2) Any member appointed under subsection (1) shall sit on the Board on
such terms and conditions as the Minister may determine and shall be eligible
for reappointment.
