15. Registrar’s powers of inspection
(1) For the purpose of ascertaining whether a company or an officer is
complying with this Act or any subsidiary enactment made under this Act,
the Registrar may, on giving 72 hours’ written notice to the company, call
for the production of or inspect any book required to be kept by the company.
(2) Any person who—
(a) fails to produce any document under subsection (1); or
(b) obstructs or hinders the Registrar or any person authorised by the
Registrar, in the exercise of any powers under subsection (1),
shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not
exceeding 200,000 rupees.
(3) For the avoidance of any doubt, this section shall also apply to a foreign company.
