33A. Confidentiality
(1) Every member of the Council shall –
(a) before he begins to perform his duties under this
Act, take the oath set out in the Sixth Schedule;
(b) maintain, and aid in maintaining, the secrecy of
any matter which comes to his knowledge in the
performance, or as a result, of his duties under
this Act.
(2) Any person who, without legal or reasonable excuse,
contravenes subsection (1)(b) shall commit an offence and shall,
on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 50,000 rupees and
to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year.
(3) Notwithstanding subsection (1)(a), where a person is,
on the commencement of this section, a member of the Council,
he shall, not later than 30 days after the commencement of this
section, take the oath set out in the Sixth Schedule.
